I had always wondered how can there be so many gods. There are 19 major religions being followed on earth. There are different traditions, rituals and ceremonies in them. We practice interestingly different ways to worship our gods. We differentiate ourselves on the base of religion. We fight among ourselves for our religions. Sometimes I think if our gods are so powerful, why not they themselves fight among them and establish the superiority. If the god cares for us then why not he decides the mandate and save us from getting killed by our earthmates on his name.

As far as I had understood this mystery of religion, I can say that religion is nothing but a system to ensure people live with prosperity here. This system was instituted by some great thinkers of the civilizations. They understood the importance of the society. And to ensure the society’s persistence they created the immortal god. In every religion there is some mythological god who punishes people if they do some wrong. I think this way they give the followers a reason to live in a peaceful manner with the people around him/her. Those thinkers knew that all the people will not be able to understand the importance of living together in a society. There was somewhere that animal instinct residing in human beings. So to curb that evil thing they instituted a system called religion. They created the god and bestowed him the power. They told people that he is the powerful one who keeps a watch on all that is going on this earth and punishes the evil people sooner or later. Thus, they ensured that people live with prosperity and brotherhood at least by the means of ‘fear of god’ if not by their own wisdom. They proved all this by associating bad events in the bad person’s life as the punishment gave by god, and good events in the good person’s life as the rewards of following the religion religiously. They called the bad events in the good person’s life as the will of god and good events in the bad person’s life as the deferment in punishment.

Some of the religions were instituted very anciently when humans didn’t know about other civilizations on earth. When They knew the sea as the end of the earth. The inventers of religion established the customs and traditions according to their limited knowledge. Those customs and traditions got modified with the time, as the knowledge grew with time. Even some new religions or branches of the parent religion got sprouted. Some developed and some vanished.

Gradually with the time we humans grew with our reach and our knowledge. We knew that there are other other religions being followed on this earth. We came to know how different the other people are and their customs and strange traditions. Then there started the debate of superiority. Those debates turned into fights. Many communal clashes happened on this earth till recent times. All this chaos in today’s world lead me to this conclusion for which I had discussed all this matter till now.

I think all the religions being followed had gone obsolete. They are old. We need some radical modifications in them to cope with the globalization we are facing today. Or say, we are now in an urgent need to form a new religion in which we can accommodate each and every race of humans on earth. We should accommodate even the animals in that religion to protect them. We need to take care of the nature with that new religion. We really can create one single religion to follow the one common god. We need to set the new rules, traditions, customs, beliefs, values common for all. I believe that this new religion can prove the best solution for almost all the problems we are facing on earth today. Whether it is the war or the global warming, or the racial discrimination, or the extinguishing animals, or the human rights,… almost everything. Just imagine, if this new religion is instituted, we can live like a single big family on earth.

I know this will be the most complicated task on earth to be accomplished but if we think about its fruits, I believe it is worth putting all those efforts.
The human today is much difficult to be threatened by the name of god. People are now smarter and can differentiate well between the superstitions and realities. So the fear of god will not be as powerful tool as it used to be earlier. So we can create a set of rules or say laws to abide with. We should then create a system to take care of the people who do not follow it. We should create again that one powerful god for the people who are still superstitious. Who still do not understand that we are social animals and society is indispensable for a prosperous and peaceful life.
